Tanzania Voted Best Safari Country in Africa

Tanzania was voted as the best safari country in Africa. A new poll crowned the East African country the king of safaris.

A two-year poll that was undertaken by a safaribookings.com, a Netherlands-based website, collated answers from over 1,000 safari tourists and over 750 experts including guidebook authors from Lonely Planet, Rough Guides, Frommer’s, Bradt and Footprint.

The first problem when considering a safari is where to go. There are so many countries, all with their own niches and a plethora of wildlife which can make deciding a headache.

To put it simply, Tanzania has everything for everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned safari goer or a first-timer, Tanzania can offer you an experience you will never forget. In the North there is the famous Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park and in the South there are the lesser-known but equally as brilliant, Selous and Ruaha Reserves.

The activities offered are also in a league of their own, you can game drive, walk, boat, hot air balloon and fly camp depending on your location, meaning that you will have an activity to entertain anyone from honeymooners to families.

Tanzania has seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the safari favourite Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Serengeti National Park which offer spectacular sights of the ‘Big 5’ and the wildebeest’s Great Migration as they embark on the area year-round trip.

For true intrepid explorers, the country is also home to Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. If you’re brave (and prepared) enough then a few day climb can see you to the summit. A definite on any adventure seeker’s bucket list.

Tanzania has so many options in itself that according to Safari Bookings, the downside is that there are “too many highlights to fit in one safari”, which is true. We recommend taking the time to explore one or two areas at a time throughout your trip.

If you’re after more than just a safari though, Tanzania is perfectly situated for a tropical beach retreat. With Zanzibar being about a half-hour flight away, there is no place where combining safari and beach is easier.
